“The Colonists” 1st Draft Half Written

"The Colonists" 1st Draft 50%

Hey everyone,

As I sit at my desk tonight, listening to the rain falling outside my office window, I can’t help but think about how Linda and I made a big move last summer from sunny Florida to the Midwest. Little did we know that we would experience one of the coldest and snowiest winters that the Midwest had seen for a number of years.

Also, our move happened right in the middle of me working on the first draft of the second book in the Surviving Adversity Series, The Colonists. With all the packing, loading, traveling, and unpacking, my writing progress slowed down quite a bit, completely stopping for a month at one point.

However, now that we’re mostly settled into our new home, I’ve returned to writing. I’m happy to say — The Colonists 1st Draft 50%. With just over 88,000 words written so far. I expect the total word count to be between 150,000 and 160,000 when it’s finished. If everything goes well, I expect to complete the first draft, editing, formatting for eBook, paperback, and hardback, and publishing in about four to five more months, aiming for a late summer release this year.

My life has been a vibrant journey, woven with threads of creativity and curiosity. Born and raised in the heart of the Midwest, my odyssey began with a patriotic call to duty. I joined the US Navy a couple years after high school, serving in the Vietnam War. Transitioning from the military to the world of design, I worked as an Architectural Designer. Through blueprints and structures, I honed the art of visual storytelling, setting the stage for the literary narratives that would blossom in the years to come. Yet, my journey doesn't end with blueprints and sunsets. Ever since junior high school, I’ve been immersed in the world of music, learning to play several instruments in school and later, professional bands. Music is still a vibrant part of my life. However, beginning in grade school, the spark of storytelling ignited within me—a passion that only intensified with time. With an unyielding desire to share tales that captivate and inspire, I've blossomed into the author I always aspired to be.
